Think of the disappointment you will feel when that friendly FedEx courier arrives on your doorstep, asking for your signature. Just as the website said they would when you entered your tracking number. Darn it, don’t they understand that you are a creative, chaotic soul? Couldn’t they have had a coyote drop an anvil onto the truck or something, just to gin up a little bit of excitement in your life? Everything is just so calm, boring, and predictable everywhere else, you were really looking forward to using your phone for hours trying to track down a package which never arrived on time.
You love a good mystery.
Where is it? Who has it? Has the package been shipped yet? All these are valid questions! But the truth is, if an item is being manufactured overseas, it’s not always possible to track the package while it’s in transit in a foreign country. Sometimes, we just have to take a chance! Live a little, and roll the dice! You’re sure the package will arrive someday. Ok, so maybe you hope it’ll be there by Wednesday, but you know how it is. It could be in India right now. Or Russia! You want to learn all about enamels, how the artists get them onto each pin, and how long it takes to fire each color. Other people might just be concerned about getting a good quality pin in time for next week’s tournament, but not you. You’d never be so impulsive.
You thrive on creating disappointment.
You love it when it’s trading day, and you get to look into your child’s eyes and watch their face fall when you say “Sorry, sport, but we didn’t get those trading pins on time.” Or when your company gets together for the annual service awards meeting, and you have to hand out free hamburger coupons to everyone who has been with the company for 25 years instead of some pretty award pins with your company’s logo on them. Hey, disappointment is part of life. You’re glad to help teach them that valuable lesson.
